We've been studying 2 Nephi 2 in the Book of Mormon. Lehi is telling Jacob that there has to be opposition in all things. It points out that without the opposition of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and the Tree of Life we would not be here. Adam and Eve would have remained in the Garden of Eden had they not partaken of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and they would have remained innocent having no children. In verse 23 - 25 it states:
23 And they would have had no children; wherefore they would have remained in a state of innocence, having no joy, for they knew no misery; doing no good, for they knew no sin.
24 But behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things.
25 Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy.
What struck me as I read and pondered those verses is without children we have no joy. Elder Bednar stated that beautifully when he said, "Our Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son are creators and have entrusted each of us with a portion of Their creative power." It is that creative power that brings us the greatest joy we can ever experience.
Psalms 127:4-5 says in part, "As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are the children of thy youth.
5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them:..."
I am so grateful to be a mother in Zion. My children and grandchildren are my greatest joy in life and my greatest accomplishment. I am also so grateful for all the children in my life that I get to interact with. They are all such a wonderful example to me.
