Before I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I used to wonder why we didn't have modern day prophets. I knew about Moses and Abraham, Issac and Jacob. I new about Noah and the flood. I had heard that God is the SAME yesterday, today and forever so I wondered why the people of ancient time got a prophet but we didn't. After all we had new and different trials and needed direction just as much as the people of old.
Then I was introduced to the missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and they told me that we do indeed have a living prophet today just as they did in the days of Noah and Moses. When I heard that it rang true to me. It felt right. After all, God loves all his children and if they needed prophets anciently then we need them today. In Amos 3:7 it says, "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." That implies prophets are necessary.
I testify that we DO have a living prophet today who is Thomas S. Monson. We also have 12 Apostles just as Jesus Christ organized when He was here upon the earth. If you want to know more please contact the missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
